An ingrown toenail occurs when the sides of the toenail grow into the surrounding skin. The toenail curls and pierces the skin which can become red, swollen and tender. If left untreated infection can occur. The type of treatment recommended depends on the severity, but in most cases it can be effectively treated by removing the affected section of nail.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Onychomycosis or fungal nail infection affects the nail and nail bed. It causes
nails to become discoloured, brittle and often thickened. Due to the nature of this infection topical treatments can take months to see improvement. Athletes Foot or Tinea Pedis is a common fungal infection of the foot. It can cause an itchy rash between the toes and on the sole of the foot. The affected areas can appear as red, scaly, flaky and dry. If left untreated it can spread to the toenails and to other people.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Verruca or plantar warts are a viral skin infection (HPV) common amongst all age groups. They are contagious and can be transmitted both skin-to-skin and indirectly through contact with contaminated objects such as towels, shoes, areas surrounding swimming pools or communal changing areas. This a cosmetic procedure carried out by podiatrists to create a prosthetic nail if

Diabetic foot disease is one of the most common, serious, feared and costly
complications of diabetes. Poorly managed Diabetes can lead to the development of vascular and neurological problems in the foot which can result in ulceration or amputation. Following a gait and biomechanical assessment a podiatrist will be able to design a custom made orthotic which will address any structural or functional issues that require treatment. Custom made orthotics are tailored to each individual patient, taking a cast impression of the foot.
